In my opinion, measurements are mostly good if they make sense. The metrics mentioned in this article are not bad and could be useful.

The problem arises when the bosses think this is a good way to incentivize engineers is by attaching their salary/bonuses to these metrics.

This is when engineers become creative and the metrics are gamed.
